Gun Control. There, I said it.

We’re America, bitches. Let’s get our shit together. What the hell is wrong with us that there have been more mass shootings in our country this year, than there have been days.

Let that sink in for a second…

Yet, here we are basically saying there is nothing we can do about it. I read an article from The Onion this morning… ya know, the parody news people? It made more sense to me than anything else I’ve read regarding our current situation as a nation. Rather anything actually be done, let’s all sit around and debate about gun control and conspiracy theories.

TAKE AWAY ALL THE GUNS!

NO! LET PEOPLE HAVE MORE GUNS SO WE CAN PROTECT OURSELVES!

Vaguely speaking, that seems to sum up the most passionate two sides of Gun Control. I’m not an expert – I probably haven’t even done enough research to form a solid opinion, but what’s the point anyway? Me, Joe & Jane are sitting around a table, bitching our points at each other the same way the government’s two sides are. I go home, go to bed and I’m still fucking scared to go to a movie. I’m scared to go to an NFL game. I’m scared to LEAVE MY FUCKING HOUSE.

Don’t let fear rule your life.

Another thing we’re told. I like the ambitious, positive intention behind those words – but let’s get real. People are shooting people, everywhere... and we, as a nation seem to have accepted the, “If people want to kill – they’ll find a way” reasoning. I may be naive to state something so obvious, but there certainly seems to be a favorite way of doing that recently. Is there not an ease and convenience that comes with a gun, an assault riffle at that?

I don’t want to be schooled on gun laws, rights and all that shit; I don’t need anyone sending me an e-mail justifying their right to bear arms.

I’m just sayin, It would be a lot more work to plan on killing a lot of people, as fast as possible before getting caught – without guns.

I’m not sure where I stand on Gun Control. I don’t fucking care, to be honest – take all the guns. Make stricter laws. Let specific badass people keep them after passing a badassery/honesty test… I don’t know what the answer is…

But, can we get on a solution here, people? Agree to disagree – find some common ground…but do something.

  1. This is great. I don’t have much of an opinion on gun control either because honestly, I don’t own a gun, nor do I intend to, but I have family members that do and it doesn’t bother me. I don’t think we will ever find a common ground, especially in this country, so I agree, at some point soon, someone needs to do something.

    1. I know what you’re saying and I agree. I haven’t put the effort into forming an opinion because I have zero desire to own a gun – because I would probably end up shooting someone. The issue lies in the fact of not every is as self-aware as I am.
      😉
Maybe someday shit will calm down – but for now… I don’t see much changing. 😦

  2. I can feel your frudtration. Even though im from the UK we look over and see thst despite all the shootings nothing changes, each side shouts its cause louder. What you must feel at times when you go out must be fear, if not for yourself but your kids etc…
Why doesnt the whole world put every fucking gun, missile and shell down and talk about stuff?

    1. It’s interesting to hear your thoughts on it, being from another country. You’re so right, it’s terrifying raising a child, dropping them off at school…and while it may seem dramatic, just hoping for the best. It’s been proven it can happen anywhere. Schools, Malls, the one yesterday was at a disability center.
It just keeps getting worse, before any progress at all is made and it’s very very sad.

  3. I, personally, think that 2nd amendment needs to be axed. It was written in a time when Americans needed to protect themselves from the British, the French, the Native Americans, and everyone else who wanted a piece of the New World. We no longer have fear of someone coming to conquer our nation. We have a military budget that outranks the rest of the world combined. There’s no need to give everyone a gun. I like the way you have written this. Great post!

    1. This. Exactly this. People these days don’t want guns so they can protect their country if the need arises. People just want guns. I don’t think they even really know WHY they want guns anymore. They just know they want them.

And the 2nd Amendment serves as the perfect excuse to hide behind so they don’t have to justify that needless want.
